The re-action unit.

Made of stainless steel and weighing in at around 30kgs, it is quite a chunk of metal.

In the centre is a bearing called the cutlass bearing and this had to be remade and renewed.

However thanks to a canal boats steering bearing and a good toolmaker it was cut down, tooled and then installed.

Not the easiest job as I had to make a special extraction tool to remove the old bearing.
